Santa Clara County spends billions every year — yet homelessness, traffic, and public safety are getting worse.

The status quo isn’t working. It’s time to request a second opinion.

An agenda for a Stronger,
Healthier Santa Clara County

Restore Financial Health, and Demand Accountability.

Homelessness, traffic, crime all are getting worse because Santa Clara County leaders’ fiscal irresponsibility has created a $150 million annual structural deficit.

I’ve balanced budgets year after year on the El Camino Healthcare board while investing in women’s health, mental health and student wellness. I will be a Supervisor who is independent of special interests and unafraid to ask the hard questions. Your tax dollars have been wasted long enough. It’s time to see some results.

Invest in Public Safety and Healthy Communities.

The first component of a healthy community is public safety. Yet local property crimes and street crimes are increasing while undermanned police can barely keep up. We must fully fund law enforcement and end the misguided catch and release approach for violent offenders. The well-being of our residents must come first.

Real Results on Homelessness. Stop Delaying Mental Health Reforms.

Santa Clara County leaders have spent nearly $1 billion on housing and homelessness, yet the problem is worse, not better. Now they’re dragging their feet on implementing mental health reforms. We must move the mentally ill and addicted off the streets and into mental health services.

For others experiencing homelessness, we must provide affordable housing options and shelters, and wraparound services that help transition them back to jobs and self-sufficiency.

Better Planning to Reduce Traffic and Improve Transportation.

Every minute we spend in traffic represents precious time lost with family and productive work or wellness and recreation. Our planning has failed because we have failed to plan. We must be smarter about our roads and transit infrastructure spending so we can reduce traffic and get back to the things that matter most in our lives. Yes, traffic affects our mental health, too!

Increase Mental Health Services for Parents and Students.

As a father of three, I understand Santa Clara County parents need more support when it come to educating their children.

Santa Clara County’s students are having trouble learning because they suffer stress from issues like bullying and recovering learning loss suffered during the pandemic.

As a lifelong healthcare professional, I also know Santa Clara County must invest in mental health and wellness for students—and their parents so we can all thrive and succeed.

More Affordable Housing and Healthcare Options for Seniors.

As a doctor who has personally helped care for many of our local seniors, I understand how many struggle with a lack of housing and healthcare options as they face fixed-income retirement and the challenges of aging.

I will be a leading voice for making sure we finally provide fixed income seniors more affordable housing solutions, and provide aging seniors more care facilities and health care options.
